On Sunday, I turned 40. And the old saying, Life Begins at 40, means that I am starting a second life...the mid-life. You know, the life between 40 and the retirement ages, like 60 or something...
There has been many events that have happened during these 14,610 days, some good (graduations, birthdays meeting new friends...like everyone here at RedHedd) to the sad times (the death of my parents-mom on 12/1/85 and dad on 6/21/87, 9/11/01...) and everything in between. I was born 16 days before Neil Armstrong landed on the moon, thank God I was not alive during murders caused by that jerk Manson and his family (they make the Simpsons look like the Huxtables from the Cosby Show), I wasn't around when Ted Kennedy tarnished Camelot forever by killing his girlfriend by driving his '67 Delta 88 in the Chappaquiddick river, and I was just 2 months old when the Miracle Mets won the World Series. Oh yeah...Vietnam continued, and there was change in the White House as LBJ was out and Nixon was in. Fast forward to 2008. We now have the Space Shuttle, Manson's still incarcerated, Kennedy is still Senator, we now have the Iraq War (let's win the war, bomb Al Qaeda and the Taliban and stop Ahmedinejad and the radicals before we have another 9/11), we had another miracle team making the World Series with the Tampa Bay Rays and in the Super Bowl with the Arizona Cardinals, and there was change at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with GWB out and BHO in. Wow, and did I mention Woodstock was going on while my mom gave birth to me? I wonder what the next 40+ years of my life will look like. But one thing's certain, I'll have friends for life here at Redhedd, that's what also matters to me.
Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery, today is a gift. And those gifts for days number 14,610, 14,611, 14,612, 14,613, etc... are living a good life, having good health and friends like all of you at RedHedd!

Cheers to my 40th and Slainte!
