Missionaries or Saving Souls

I've always had a problem with these church groups who traverse to "third world" countries and proceed to take away their native belief system and force Jesus down their throats.


I guess in their minds it comes from a good place and a wish to "save" but really, it's arrogant and invasive and wrong.

As has been said elsewhere on here, who are WE to decide what others should believe in?

We're not, is who.

If you want to spread the word of God, whatever. But it seems to me that they're using food and other needing resources as a way of bribing people into believing what they believe. Don't help people so you can hold it over their head.

Exactly, it's like bribery.

We'll feed you, if you pay lip service to this random thing that has no resonance with you and does not improve your life one whit.

Yea what was the deal with Sally Struthers going to africa and begging for people to give money to feed the starving people? Sally (if you dont know)  is well, fat, she is lucky the starving africans didnt eat her.

I don't think she was spreading religion, though, but just trying to guilt us fat and wealthy Americans into sending cash.

The spaniards who devastated the aboriginals of North South and Central America came as  missionaries. Christopher Columbus may  be responsible for more attrocities than Adolph Hitler.
