Biofuels
Are biofuels a better alternative to fossil fuels? Should their use be encouraged by government regulations and subsidy?

Yes and no, we use Bio Diesel. It jells up at a higher temp (turns to a jell when it gets below zero F) because it has less carbin in it. It also dosent lubricate the the fuel system as well as regular diesel. So that means more matinace.
As for ethanol I dont think thats the answer. I use it when its avalible. Shure it is great for us farmers it makes the price or corn go up.
I guess hydrogen might take over for cars, but the big rigs, tractors, and big construction equipment will still use diesel.

The whole "yellow" movement seems to have stalled, if one can believe the frequency of their marketing (commercials).
It's a great point that although it IS a renewable resource, it WILL make the price of corn go up.
On the other hand, maybe the growing of corn for bio fuels could save some of the small farms that subsist on the edge of ruin, AND increase the supply so that the price can stabilize.
So me, I think it's a great idea.
At least until the government decides to finally give us the water car...
