It's just days before Christmas and I caught a cold. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat. Thinking it was the dry air in the house, I put on the humidifier.  No such luck.......I'm sick.  The only place I could have got it was the grocery store.  I just hate it when I'm shopping and I hear people coughing. I feel like saying to them....GO HOME, YOU ARE GOING TO GET EVERYONE HERE SICK!.  Some people don't care.  They figure, if they are sick, everyone else should get it too.

This blog is nothing against those who are forced to go to work.  I know many bosses don't care if you are sick or not. This blog is about people who are sick and out grocery shopping.  I have avoided the malls by shopping early for Christmas, but I have to go to the grocery store.

I hope I am better for Christmas Eve.  I'm going to my parent's house and I do not want to get them sick.  If the cold turns into the flu, I may have to stay home and have a sucky holiday.

I know there's a song for rain....Rain rain go away come again another day.  Is there one for snow?  I'm getting sick of it. It's snowing again. We are supposed to get another 6 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow.  My roof can't take much more.  I shoveled the roof of the garage, house, and shed yesterday and it looks like it will have to be done again.  With the roof shovel, I can only get off snow 10-12 feet. Near the peak, there must be almost 2 feet of snow.  I now wish I had bought a snowmobile.  At least that way I could be happy about the snow a little more.

It's only December and between the last few snow storms, there has to be over 2 feet of snow on the ground.  The snow is pretty and all, we just need time inbetween storms. I just came in from using a roof shovel because I fear the roof will cave in on the garage because the garage roof is made with trusses so that there is not any poles in the garage.  I used it on the house, garage, and shed.  Unfortunately with it, I can only reach up maybe 10-12 feet.  I hope the sun gets warm enough today to melt more of it now that I have some of the shingles exposed.  I'd hate t have the garage roof cave in because I have 4 of my cars inside of it.

I usually hate reality shows, but for some reason I always watch Survivor.  I've watched every one of them.  The most recent one was especially good.  I often think I'd like to do the show, but then I think about how my pale skin would burn so much.

We had another snowstorm today.  A red squirrel decided it would be fun to make tunnels under the snow.  He made at least 6+ holes to pop out off. Watching him reminded me of the song pop goes the weasel.

It's supposed to snow 5-8 inches this afternoon.  All the birds are at the feeders, as well as squirrels.  I have this one squirrel who doesn't run if I open the door to throw out some walnuts.  In fact, he comes fairly close.  Today, it came on the back deck and stood in front of the door.  I opened the door to give him a nut. He just stayed there. I could have fed him out of my hand, but I decided a squirrel bite wasn't what I needed.  I dropped the nut in front of him. He grabbed it and ran away.  5 minutes later, he's on my back deck again and I do the same thing.

I'm guessing the squirrels are eating furiously because they know the snow is coming.  This particular squirrel who came on my deck today has been coming around for months.  This was the first time he came so close.  Sure, he took some nuts to hide. Maybe this squirrel will actually be able to find the nuts he hid.

I don't want to act like my age.  I hate it when I meet others my age they tell me they can't do things because of their age.  I told an old friend to make a myspage page. Her comment was "my son told me I'm too old to have a myspace page."  I told her, you get old when you think you can't do things because of your age. Eventually she put up the page, but she still comments about how her son tells her she's too old.  Yes, at a certain age, there are some things people should not do......like wear mini-skirts or wear too much makeup. Even if one has a great body, mini-skirts look ridiculous on older women.

I've noticed lately with who I talk to online.  It's mostly people in their late 20's to 30's and a very few in their 40's.  I guess I feel I don't have that much in common with those my age or older, though I do try to talk with everyone.  I probably don't have much in common with those younger, but what I like about people who are younger is they aren't afraid to speak their mind.  If something is bothering them, they let you know. To hold things in, only leads to stress or depresson.

For those who are in their 40's or older.  Don't think of yourself as old or you will become old. You can have friends of all ages.  Never utter the word...."I'm too old."

This morning I get a phone call from an old childhood friend.  I had just talked to her 2 days ago, but I guess she was bored so she called me.  I had to listen to her brag about her 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 3 garage home and her Mercedes.  She said to me that she had such a bad childhood that she is making up for it now.  To me, its just trying to show off. Why have a 4 bedroom house for only 2 people. Their kids are grown and out of the house.   I tend to bet she has all Ethan Alan furnitute in the house as well. Oh well, I rather have my small house with a small mortgage.  Having gone through a 6 month period of getting 75% less money coming in because of my husband's unemployment, I don't take chances any more.  Sure, I could probably have a big house like my friend, but I don't need the big mortagage or the need to feel superior to others.

I just had a very long conversation with someone from my childhood.  It got really weird at the end. We were talking about my grandmother who died 3 years ago and how we never found any of her money.  This friend tells me how she is psychic and tells me to just listen to her and see if what she says made any sense.  Well, what she said anyone could have said.  I listened to her go on for about an hour......telling me to look in my grandmother's closet on the right hand side near the door.  She said there's no money, but there's a note or something.  She also tells me there's something hidden in my grandmother's car, which I now have.  As if we didn't already search.  While I do believe some people have the ability, I do not believe she does.

I'm taking my Mom out shopping tomorrow, so I;ll be at my grandmothers house as my Mom and grandmother lived in the same house (in-law setup) I'm supposed to call the old friend tomorrow night and tell her what I found.  I don't think so.....  I don't feel like listening to it over again or her brag about everything in her life.....Don't you hate it when you talk to an old friend how they brag about everything. Sometimes I wonder if any of it is true.
