Paraphenalia (Stuff)
Posted On 03/26/2008 22:53:08

Speaking to the femmes: has any one of you actually ever just freaking CUT your HAIR like all chicks seem to do in the movies when they're stressed or experiencing change or wanting to kick ass in the army (you know, how Demi shaved her head in GI Jane)?

Also, it kinda almost ruins a song for me when they say "chew" all the time. "I want CHEW" "I need CHEW" etc.   I hate that. Doesn't seem that difficult to ennunciate the word "you" after the words "want" or "need" or what have you.

EW and when you can hear the intake of breath in a song, I hate that, too. It distracts me.

Kinda also wondering why so many billions are spent to scientifically research new beauty and weight loss stuff. Well, no, not wondering, actually; I know it's all about money, and it's a billion-dollar industry. But seriously, if that money was channelled into actual life-threatening diseases, do you think we'd have a cure for at least some of those killer things by now?

I do.

And, do you think it's possible to feel like you're an artist on the inside but not be able to get it OUT? Or is it part-and-parcel of said artistic temperament to automatically be able to express yourself?

I think Boston Legal is the BEST show on television right now, I really do. I adore William Shatner and love how he clued in, early on, that he himself is OVER the TOP and now he's able to make fun of himself. DENNY CRANE! is my new battle cry, cuz he's a survivor and SOOOOOO funny.

Also James Spader has always been one of my favs (if he'd never done anything BUT Sex, Lies, and Videotape, and/or Secretary he'd have left an amazing legacy but to see him drolling (yes, "drolling," not "drooling") all over the place on that show, well...he's fanFREAKINGtastic.

It's also amazing that Candice Bergen is allowed, in her sixties, to be a SUCH a sex symbol for all the boys in the firm. I freaking LOVE that, and she looks GOOD, too (and not all plastic-surgery-ish, which I love).

And hey (you know, I'm addicted, now, to starting sentences with "And," while my 7th grade English teacher is getting mysterious hives every time I do it), why is everyone so freaking BORED all the time, lately? I count myself in that number, as well, but I know that mine stems from semi-depression and lethargy and the intruding of reality (that BITCH) into my happy little fantasmagoria-ish Strawberry Kingdom.

One more thing: did you know that President Lincoln’s oldest son was on the scene of three presidential assassinations? Yup, he was there when his poppa bit it, in 1865, when Garfield got whacked in 1881, and McKinley, also, in 1901.

Sigh...and thus, I end.

You're welcome (for the ending, not for the blogging )

A Day of Work
Posted On 03/25/2008 00:13:36

My friend Tirzah told me I can go to the Guiry's she works at tomorrow and do inventory for a couple of hours.

Only $10 an hour, but hey, it's some money, right?

And it will get me out of the house, which I think will do me a world of good. Been courting another big depression thing and that's NOT good, so leaving the house and not having the option to sit and wallow in self-pity while I job hunt is going to be good.

In other news, does anyone have any experience with bankruptcy?

I hate to ask such a personal question in such a public way, so if you have some insight you'd like to share, please feel free to message me.

Now...we need to end on a positive note, here...OH! Linus did the cutest thing today. He brought one of his stuffed squeaky toys into my room and walked right by me, out the door, and proceeded to play with it in the backyard.

Very random, and funny, how he'll suddenly decided to do that. It's only the second or third time he's done it, and it cracks me up.

So that was fun!

Share-y
Posted On 03/24/2008 05:32:13
M'kay my lovelies, just cause I'm in a sharing mood (and yes, sobering up nicely, thanks for asking), here is what has been going through my head for the last hour or so (at least until I saw A Fine Frenzy on Letterman, but now it's back, as if you give a shite).

For any not in the "know" (but how COULD there be, really?), you must at least give a listen to Echo and the Bunnyfoofoos, they're seminal.

NOT SEMENal, you pervs.

ER, maybe that's me, the perv thing.

But seriously, folks, this is one of the bands that helped form my musical tastes. 'Splains a lot, I know :p

Anyhoo, here are the lyrics, in case you, er, can read...

Stab a sorry heart
With your favourite finger
Paint the whole world blue
And stop your tears from stinging
Hear the cavemen singing
Good news they're bringing

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see
My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

A longing for
Some fresher feeling
Belonging Or
just forever kneeling
Where is the sense in stealing
Without the grace to be it

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

Burning my bridges
And smashing my mirrors
Turning to see if you're cowardly
Burning the witches with modern religions
You'll strike the matches and shower me
In water games
Washing the rocks below
Taught and tamed
In time with tear flow

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see My face among them
Kissing the tortoise

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see
My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

Too Many Blogs? Now no one wants to read me...
Posted On 03/24/2008 05:25:27
(Added note: I guess maybe I've blogged too much, cuz it seems no one is reading them anymore, dangit. But I hope at least a few look and listen to this one.)

She might be a dye job, but a dunna care, I thought this was really pretty:

(Cuz as a grown person with a brain, I've come to realize that not ALL good music and/or entertainment comes only from natural redheads (BIG WINK!))

Auditions for Capt. Copper's Sidekick
Posted On 03/23/2008 20:04:24

Now holding "auditions" for Captain Copper's sidekick.

So far, Lizlizliz is in the lead.

To apply, come up with a name and your powers. The name must go along with Captain Copper, and SHOULD have some form of "red" in it.

Thank you, for your support.

Carry on.

Frankie the Fly
Posted On 03/23/2008 17:30:58
I blogged a bit ago about how Frankie saw his first airplane, through the open door, and how he was entranced.

Since then, he's seen three more, one at night (he LOVED that, you should have seen how huge his pupils got), and I'm starting to think he's predisposed to be loving airplanes.

Realizing that I have a tendency to anthropomorphize, I SWEAR he looks for them when he's sitting in the window, and they seem to thrill him.

He sure can fly; he jumps a good four feet in the air to catch the pull cords of the new blinds on the door.

Welcome to the Art of the Superfluous blog...

Cap'n Copper
Posted On 03/23/2008 17:24:57
So, based on today's pic and the forum post by that French guy who keeps getting insulted on the street and such (and sorry, I can't remember his name right now), I want to create a superhero.

Captain Copper, shall be the working title.

He would be able to fly (or teleport, whatever) all over the world, and defend redheads from abuse and prejudice.

Spread peace, understanding, witty one-liners and vernacular hilarity, tolerance, and RED HOTT arse kickings, wherever he goes.

Also, he should be able to go, I don't know, super-nova or something, to fry the super-bad guys.

Hills, you wanna draw it?

Anyone have any more ideas for powers for him?

Happy Pagan Fertility, everyone.

Easter, Explained
Posted On 03/22/2008 16:33:50

This is Easter, explained, by Eddie Izzard. Although I think you should watch the WHOLE thing (it's freaking hilarious), if you want to see the Easter thing, go to 8:28 of part five, and then continue with part six, right at the beginning. VERY funny stuff (and chocolate eggs for thought!
