Slow Dance
DATE: 01/21/2008 23:25:11 / MOOD: awed

This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital with cancer. .It was sent by a medical doctor - Make sure to read what is in the closing statement AFTER THE POEM. She wants to see how many people get her poem.It is quite the poem. Please pass it on.

SLOW DANCE   Have you ever watched kids

On a merry-go-round?

Or listened to the rain

Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down.

Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.

The music won't last.

Do you run through each day

On the fly?   When you ask How are you?

Do you hear the reply?       When the day is done

Do you lie in your bed   With the next hundred chores

Running through your head?   You'd better slow down

Don't dance so fast.   Time is short.   The music won't last.   Ever told your child,   We'll do it tomorrow?   And in your haste,   Not see his sorrow?   Ever lost touch,   Let a good friendship die

Cause you never had time   To call and say,"Hi"   You'd better slow down.   Don't dance so fast.   Time is short.   The music won't last.   When you run so fast to get somewhere   You miss half the fun of getting there.    When you worry and hurry through your day,

It is like an unopened gift....   Thrown away.

Life is not a race.

Do take it slower   Hear the music

Before the song is over.

Dear All: PLEASE pass this mail on to everyone you know It is the request of a special girl who will soon leave this world due to cancer.   This young girl has 6 months left to live, and as her dying wish, she wanted to send a letter telling everyone to live their life to the fullest, since she never will.   She'll never make it to prom, graduate from high school, or get married and have a family of her own.   Dr. Dennis Shields, Professor   Department of Developmental and Molecular Biology   1300 Morris Park Avenue      Bronx , New York 10461

Millisle is a village in County Down, Northern Ireland, lying on the Ards Peninsula, about 3 miles south of Donaghadee. We had a population of 1,800 in the 2001 Census. Described in County Down.com as an "unpretentious bucket-and-spade resort of fish-and-chip shops and acres of caravan sites".* Millisle Lagoon and Beach Park has 495 feet of golden sand and a seawater lagoon providing a safe bathing area. A jetty, slipways and paddling pool complement the lagoon area situated at the shorefront of Millisle village. At the moment the land is under redevelopment and undergoing a much needed refit.  Dam seaweed has a stench that will make ya not like sushi !    * Millisle is surrounded by farmland, and its farming grains are serviced by the nearby Ballycopeland Windmill, where the fully restored windmill still remains in operation. A lot of said farmland has now been sold of for redevelopment with lots of rubbish town houses    * The Northern Ireland Prison Service College is situated on a 21 acre site on the outskirts of Millisle, on a former borstal site.    * The First and Last Pub which is situated in Millisle was apparently visited in 1690 by William III of England on his way south to the Battle of the Boyne, despite actually being founded in 1790 a full hundred years after the battle.    * The house of local guitarist and philanthropist Lewis McAuley is in Millisle. Our village is situated on the North Down Coast of Northern Ireland. The nearest town to Millisle is Donaghadee which lies 3 miles North, the Larger town of Newtownards lies 7 miles to the east of the village.Ballycopeland WindmillCounty Down is one of the best grain-growing areas in Ireland and windmills have long been a prominent feature of the landscape. At one time over 100 windmill's were recorded in the county of Down and although there are several remains left, only Ballycopeland Windmills survives. The windmill at Millisle is situated on the Moss Road about half a mile from the main village, and attracts many visitors each year. It is the only working windmill in N. ireland.
